Republicans the party of flat earth?

Republicans much more likely than Democrats to believe humans created as-is 10,000 years ago

There is a significant political divide in beliefs about the origin of human beings, with 60% of Republicans saying humans were created in their present form by God 10,000 years ago, a belief shared by only 40% of independents and 38% of Democrats.

I missed this last year but saw it on Twitter yesterday. Yes those are the kinds of people I want leading medical research and teaching my kid science.

She has my permission to stab any teacher that tells her the Earth is 10,000 years old in the throat with a spork.

When I was in 5th grade I asked a teacher (at Catholic school) why dinosaurs were not mentioned in the Bible or in particular were not on Noah's Ark. I was referred to ask the Priest during religion class/indoctrination. His answer was that they did not exist. On Sunday I asked the same question of my Baptist Sunday school teacher and Preacher. They agreed that they were not in the Bible and did not exist.

There as a little 5th grader I decided these folks were either full of shit, stupid or both. Some 30 years later a belief I still hold.
