RIP Ranger Robert Prince

Major Robert Prince 6th Ranger Battalion passed away New Years day 2009. Major Prince was a leader of the liberation of the Cabanatuan Prison Camp on the Philippine island of Luzon during World War II. Those actions were told in the book and movie The Great Raid and the book Ghost Soldiers. Major Prince was also inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame.

The great raider has died.

Robert Prince, a Seattle native and Army Ranger who was the assault force commander of the daring World War II mission to liberate Allied prisoners that was portrayed in the 2005 movie "The Great Raid," passed away New Year's Day in Port Townsend, his family confirmed.
