A Nicholas County woman killed Monday on her farm by an off-duty Boone County sheriff's deputy was shot multiple times, including twice in the back, according to the Nicholas County coroner.
Coroner Billy Clark said Friday that Brenda May Pollitt, 55, was shot five times from 6 to 8 feet away by a .40-caliber police weapon. Two entry wounds were in Pollitt's back, Clark said.
Kentucky State Police said sheriff's deputy Scotty Hill, 36, fired after Pollitt threatened him with a pistol. Clark said that he could not confirm Pollitt had a gun; both weapons apparently had been confiscated before he was called to the scene on Headquarters Road.
An autopsy was performed in Frankfort on Tuesday, but state police have not yet released a report.
The shooting occurred about 11:45 p.m. Monday when Hill, accompanied by his wife and daughter, went to Pollitt's farm to pick up a horse purchased from Pollitt's nephew, according to Nicholas County sheriff Dick Garrett.
No charges have been filed; Hill has been moved to administrative duties until the state police investigation is completed, the Boone County sheriff's department said in a statement.
